Dehusking - Removal of the parchment

The last layer of the coffee is only removed just prior to shipment. This last layer called the parchment or silver skin is the last protection before the raw coffee bean. This layer is removed by a trillo, or a mill. This mill will remove the skin by a similar system of the depulping, by pressing the bean agains a drum and expelling the husk with air. Once this step is done, the coffee should be graded, classified again and packed for export.
