Sustainable Processes - Intensive Pasture Ranching

The cattle ranch is handle with an intensive program, this means heavy loads of animal on small area of pasture. We have in 30 acres about 200 head of cattle with field rotation system. It is very effective and we have been given a lot of advise from the River Falls University of Wisconsin (I have to confirm this university). They have come with a program from farmer to farmer and have given us ideas on how to manage this.

So far we have electric fencing with solar energy, self sufficient pasture, we don't do any works anymore on them, part of the cattle free of parasites (due to the intensity of the program), shade pasture. The interesting part of this system is that it should include a great percentage of shade on all the pasture. So far, we have sections with a 40% of shade and it is working great.
We irrigate most of the area with water used on the coffee facility and also water frm the cleaning of the pigs and stable.

This way of working the cattle has provided us with a lot of new experience, we would like to learn much more as we know that there are more things we can do, such as chicken raising on the pasture, to use their manure on the field.
